From Kuwait to Denmark: "International Woman" Opens Its Season with Bridges of Culture and Friendship

In an atmosphere celebrating cultural diversity and cross-border friendship, the International Women’s Group (IWG) opened its 2026–2027 season with a distinctive networking event featuring a Danish theme, marking the launch of a new season of activities and events that bring together women from various nationalities and cultures under the umbrella of dialogue, communication, and empowerment.

The event began with a welcome address delivered by Rima Al-Khalidi, wife of the Ambassador of the State of Palestine and Vice President of the group. She welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of such gatherings in strengthening bridges of acquaintance and understanding among different cultures.

Marike Kochlamazashvili, wife of the Ambassador of the Republic of Georgia and Advisor to the President, then introduced the members of the group’s newly elected board of directors.

In her address, Mona Haddad Al-Khoury, wife of the Ambassador of the Lebanese Republic and the group’s newly elected President, expressed her pride in assuming the presidency. She praised the efforts of previous administrations and affirmed the board’s commitment to continuing the work that has established the group as an effective platform for cultural and social engagement. She also extended her gratitude to the group’s Honorary President, Sheikha Hanouf Al-Bader, for her continuous support of the group’s activities and its humanitarian and cultural mission.

Al-Khoury announced the new season’s slogan: “Discover, Connect, Empower.” She explained that the slogan reflects the group’s vision for the coming year by encouraging members to discover more facets of Kuwait, build deeper personal and professional relationships among themselves, and empower one another through the exchange of experiences and knowledge.

The gathering featured a rich cultural journey to Denmark titled “The Land of Hygge, Happiness, and History,” prepared and presented by Elsi Qatana, an active member of the group. She guided attendees through an introductory tour highlighting key milestones in Danish history and its rich heritage, from the Viking legacy and the monarchy to the contours of contemporary Danish society, which is among the most focused on quality of life and social welfare.

The presentation shed light on the concept of “Hygge,” one of Denmark’s most prominent cultural symbols, which embodies values of warmth, comfort, simplicity, and intimacy. It also explored various aspects of daily life in the country, including work-life balance, cycling culture, and values of equality and social trust.
