Al-Jouhane: Peace is a fundamental pillar for achieving security and stability

Kawther Al-Jouan, President of the Women’s Institute for Development and Peace, emphasized the importance of embedding a culture of peace and dialogue as two fundamental pillars for achieving security and stability and supporting development pathways, particularly amid the escalating conflicts and tensions witnessed worldwide.

In a press statement marking the International Day of Peace, Al-Jouan stated that this occasion serves as a renewed call to promote the values of dialogue, understanding, and tolerance, reject violence, and work toward building safer and more stable societies.

She added that the world today faces growing challenges due to ongoing conflicts and geopolitical tensions, necessitating intensified international efforts, elevating the voice of diplomacy and dialogue, and strengthening a culture of peaceful coexistence to reach sustainable solutions that help de-escalate conflicts.

Al-Jouan explained that peace is a key factor in achieving stability, attracting investments, and directing resources toward education, health, and development sectors, rather than draining them into conflicts and armament. She highlighted the importance of enhancing dialogue and diplomacy to protect regional security and ensure the stability of peoples.

She noted that the State of Kuwait, in its foreign policy, underscores the importance of peaceful and preventive diplomatic solutions and dialogue in resolving disputes, in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.

She mentioned that the International Day of Peace, observed every year on September 21, carries this year the theme “Continue in Peace,” reaffirming the shared responsibility to entrench the values of peace and reject violence.

Al-Jouan affirmed the Women’s Institute for Development and Peace’s commitment to continuing its role in promoting a culture of peace and raising awareness of its importance through activities, seminars, lectures, and community initiatives. She stressed the need for coordinated international and community efforts to enhance tolerance and coexistence, contributing to building a future characterized by security and stability.
