Health Ministry completes legal procedures over professional violations in private healthcare facilities

The Ministry of Health stated that the relevant technical committees concluded that several professional violations were committed by a consultant internal medicine physician, in his capacity as the license holder and medical director of private healthcare facilities. Three separate sanctions were imposed on him, including a financial penalty of 4,000 dinars, another penalty of 3,000 dinars, and a suspension from practice for three months.

The Ministry clarified in a press release that, according to the committee’s report, a medical error and professional violation were also established against a consultant ophthalmology physician working at a private medical center. Consequently, his license to practice was temporarily suspended for one year.

The Ministry indicated that it continues to tighten oversight of both public and private healthcare facilities and to take legal action against anyone found in violation, without any leniency in matters concerning patient safety, the quality of healthcare, and adherence to professional standards.

It noted that Health Minister Dr. Ahmed Al-Owaidi directed the continuation of necessary legal measures in response to errors and professional violations identified through oversight, inspection activities, and technical committee reports in hospitals, clinics, and private health centers, reaffirming the application of the law and the protection of patients’ rights and safety.

The Ministry emphasized that all measures are taken based on inspection and investigation findings and the conclusions of the relevant technical committees, in accordance with approved legal and procedural frameworks, to ensure the protection of patients’ rights, the accountability of violators, and the reinforcement of professional discipline within the healthcare sector.
