Smuggling of 4 kg of heroin into the country thwarted in car spare parts

The General Directorate for Anti-Narcotics, in coordination and cooperation with the General Directorate of Customs, thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotics into the country after seizing a shipment in which the drugs were concealed using a secret and innovative method.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Interior stated that surveillance and investigation operations led to the arrest of two individuals of Sri Lankan nationality in the Al-Mubarakiya Al-Kubra and Salwa districts, following their receipt of the shipment.

The statement clarified that upon completing the seizure procedures and searching the suspects' residence, a quantity of the drug "Shabu" and a sensitive scale were found.

It added: The seizure and search procedures resulted in the recovery of approximately 4 kilograms of heroin, 100 grams of Shabu, 16 metal crank pieces used in the smuggling operation, and a sensitive scale.

The Ministry of Interior revealed that when confronted with the seized items, the suspects admitted that they were receiving instructions from another individual of Sri Lankan nationality residing outside the country, to receive shipments, unload the narcotics, and distribute them within the country in exchange for financial compensation.

Necessary legal measures were taken against the suspects, and they, along with the seized items, were referred to the competent authority on charges of possessing narcotics with the intent to trade and consume.
