Tuchel rules out Palmer, Rice, and Rashford from England squad

German coach Thomas Tuchel, head of the England national team’s technical staff, has ruled out Declan Rice, Cole Palmer, and Marcus Rashford from his squad for the UEFA Nations League, with England set to face Spain next Saturday.

Newcastle defender Tino Livramento and Manchester City’s Kobbie Mainoo are also absent from the “Three Lions” squad due to injury.

To compensate for these absences, Everton’s James Garner and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White have been called up.

The English side will face “La Roja” at Wembley Stadium before traveling to meet the Czech Republic on September 29.

Harry Kane’s teammates will then face Croatia on October 3, before concluding their international window at home against the Czech Republic on the 6th of the same month.

The English Football Association confirmed that Garner and Gibbs-White will be ready to join the rest of the squad next Tuesday.

The “Blues” striker, whose absence from Tuchel’s 2026 World Cup squad sparked controversy, started the season strongly by scoring four goals for his club.

The former Bayern Munich manager said on Friday, after announcing a 27-man squad, that it was his “duty” to include Mainoo, who had not been given a single minute of play in the North American World Cup, where England finished in third place.
