Paris FC continues its strong start

Paris FC continued its strong start to the season after defeating visitors Strasbourg 2-1 in Matchday 5, temporarily moving into third place in the French Ligue 1 standings.

The team managed by English coach Liam Rosenior, who faced his former club, scored both goals through Algeria international Ilyes Guehi in the 18th minute and Pablo Páez in the 57th minute.

Paris FC raised its points total to 11, placing it third, two points behind leaders Monaco and level on goal difference with second-placed Lyon, who beat Rennes 4-0.

Paris FC, in its second consecutive season in the top flight and currently sitting just behind Parisian neighbor Paris Saint-Germain in the table, could spend the international break on the podium, depending on the results of the matches involving Nice and Lille.

Strasbourg, which narrowed the gap late in the game with an 88th-minute own goal by Senegal’s Mustapha Mbaye, temporarily dropped to sixth place with seven points.
