Al-Otaibi: We aim for a dignified performance at the Handball World Cup

Anwar Al-Otaibi, president of Burqan Sports Club, emphasized the importance of participating in the IHF Club World Championship, scheduled to be held in Cairo, Egypt, from September 24 to October 1. He described the tournament as a unique opportunity to compete against the world’s top teams and a strong preparatory gateway for the new sports season.

Al-Otaibi stated that while Burqan’s ambitions are high, the current financial resources and preparation conditions do not match the scale and intensity of the international competition. He explained that the technical and administrative staff are working to enhance the players’ experience and capabilities to improve their technical levels for various competitions.

He added that the team aims to compete strongly for local titles in the new season, while also completing the competitions from the previous season that were suspended due to the current security situation in the region.

Al-Otaibi praised the significant efforts made by the technical and administrative staff and the players during the past period, highlighting the pressures everyone faced before and during the participation in the Asian Club Championship recently hosted in Kuwait, where Burqan successfully won the title for the first time in its history.

He noted that he will not burden the players beyond their capacity during the Club World Championship, emphasizing that the goal is to make a dignified appearance.
