Asala: I am a product of Egypt

After a 15-year absence, singer Asala held a concert attended by thousands of her fans at the Al-Fayhaa Sports Hall in Damascus. Asala expressed her indescribable joy at returning to her homeland, emphasizing that the concert’s success was achieved through the efforts of a large group of her fans and assistants, led by her husband and her brother.

She also stated during a phone interview with the program “Al-Hikaya,” broadcast on MBC Egypt on Saturday evening: “I was raised and shaped in Egypt. May God preserve Egypt and all the Egyptian people.” She added that she had been living in Egypt as if it were her own country, Syria.

Thousands of “Sola” fans swayed to her songs on Thursday night, singing along with lyrics and melodies they had memorized and loved, while tears welled up in the eyes of many attendees. Asala performed tracks from her new album, “The Syrian Album,” which features 14 songs rooted in the local heritage of several Syrian governorates, along with a song in the Kurdish language.
