Al-Khalifa to Al-Anba: Protecting the environment is everyone's responsibility

The Capital Governorate participated for the third consecutive year in World Cleanup Day by organizing a campaign to clean Al-Burj Beach, in line with this occasion listed on the United Nations agenda. This initiative is part of the Governorate’s efforts to enhance environmental awareness and reinforce the concepts of corporate social responsibility and volunteerism.

The campaign witnessed extensive participation from various government entities, private sector institutions, and volunteer teams, all of whom contributed to cleaning the beach and maintaining its civilized appearance, reflecting a spirit of cooperation and partnership among different sectors of society.

The Capital Governorate affirmed that its continued participation in World Cleanup Day for the third year in a row stems from its commitment to supporting environmental initiatives, encouraging volunteer work, and promoting community participation, alongside raising awareness about the importance of preserving the environment and public facilities.

Mishal Al-Khalifa, a member of the Capital Governorate Council, stated that organizing the event is driven by the Governorate’s desire to convey a clear community message about the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness and protection. She emphasized that the participation of various segments of society, as well as government, private, and volunteer entities, reflects a spirit of responsibility and solidarity aimed at achieving a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

Al-Khalifa added in a statement to Al-Anbaa newspaper that “the turnout was impressive and heartening. The presence of such a large number of participants delights us and sends a message that society is aware of the importance of preserving the environment. What we need is more solidarity and participation.”

She continued: “My message to everyone is: enjoy Kuwait’s nature and beauty, but take care of it. Societies do not change through complaints, but through participation. We must all work together to instill a culture of environmental stewardship and turn it into a daily practice.”

Al-Khalifa affirmed that the Capital Governorate’s community events and initiatives will not stop, stating: “We will be at the forefront of anything that serves Kuwait. Nature is a blessing from God Almighty, and it is our duty to preserve it and pass on this responsibility to future generations.”

She noted that the Capital Governorate’s continued participation in World Cleanup Day for the third consecutive year reflects the importance of strengthening partnerships among state institutions, the private sector, volunteer teams, and the community, as well as raising awareness about the importance of preserving beaches, public facilities, and the Kuwaiti environment.
