Aleppo Governor Meets with Presidential Advisor to Complete Integration of SDF into Syrian State Institutions

Halep Governor Azam Al-Gharib met today with Mustafa Khalil Abdi, former leader of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and current Presidential Advisor, to discuss mechanisms for completing the integration of military, service, and civilian institutions.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that the meeting, held at the Halep Governorate building in the presence of relevant officials, included discussions on the file of residents returning to several areas within the governorate.

Government agencies are finalizing humanitarian, administrative, and service-related files, alongside procedures for integrating institutions that were previously under the SDF, which was dissolved on August 25 and fully merged into state institutions.

The announcement came 17 months and 15 days after the signing of the March 10, 2025 agreement, which laid the foundation for the integration of civilian and military institutions in northeastern Syria into state structures, culminating in the completion of military, security, and administrative integration.

Previously, on August 29, Halep Governor Engineer Azam Al-Gharib held an expanded meeting at the governorate building with Hasakah Governor Nour Al-Din Ahmad, Deir ez-Zor Governor Ziyad Al-Ayyash, Second Corps Commander Colonel Awad Muhammad Al-Jasim, and Deputy Minister of Defense for the Eastern Region Sipan Hamo.

The meeting examined Halep Governorate’s role in the work of the Presidential Integration Committee over the past period, particularly the file of displaced persons returning to their cities and villages, as well as future plans and the necessary security, service, field, and administrative arrangements to facilitate residents’ return in the coming phase.
