101,170 people in Kuwait receive survivor pensions following the death of their family member

Data from the General Public Organization for Social Security (GPOSS) reveals that the total number of beneficiaries receiving survivor pensions for deceased pensioners and insured persons in Kuwait reached 101,173. The average monthly benefit per beneficiary is approximately 486 Kuwaiti dinars. These beneficiaries are distributed among 63,457 children, 29,858 widows, and 7,858 other eligible beneficiaries.

These figures reflect the broad scope of social security protection, which extends to the family members of a deceased pensioner or insured individual. Following their death, pension shares continue to be paid to eligible beneficiaries in accordance with the applicable conditions and regulations, thereby providing a monthly financial resource for those covered by the entitlement.

Data reviewed by Al-Anbaa newspaper indicates that the largest share of beneficiaries is concentrated in the categories of children and widows. Together, they account for 93,315 beneficiaries, representing 92.2% of the total. This means that more than nine out of every ten beneficiaries belong to these two categories, compared with 7.8% for other eligible beneficiaries.

Children: 63,457 beneficiaries

The category of children tops the list of beneficiaries by number, totaling 63,457, which represents approximately 62.7% of all beneficiaries. The average monthly benefit for a beneficiary in this category is 342 dinars.

This means that children constitute nearly two-thirds of all beneficiaries of survivor pensions, making them the largest group benefiting from the continuation of social security coverage after the death of the pensioner or insured person.

This category includes the children of deceased pensioners or insured individuals who meet the eligibility requirements. Their number exceeds that of widows by approximately 33,599 beneficiaries, highlighting the significant numerical gap between the two largest categories.

Widows rank second, with a total of 29,858 beneficiaries, representing approximately 29.5% of the total. The average monthly benefit for a widow is 856 dinars, the highest average among the three categories.

The average monthly benefit for widows is approximately 514 dinars higher than that for children and about 619 dinars higher than that for other eligible beneficiaries, reflecting the disparity in average benefits across the different categories.

Other eligible beneficiaries: 7,858

The category of other eligible beneficiaries numbers 7,858, representing approximately 7.8% of the total. The average monthly benefit for a beneficiary in this category is 237 dinars, the lowest among the three categories.

Thus, the total of 101,173 beneficiaries is distributed across three main categories, with a clear concentration among children and widows. The overall average monthly benefit is approximately 486 dinars per beneficiary, reflecting the ongoing role of social security after the death of a pensioner or insured individual by ensuring that entitlements reach their family members and those who meet the eligibility criteria.
