CENTCOM: We facilitated the export of over one billion barrels of oil from the Gulf via the Strait of Hormuz

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Admiral Brad Cooper stated that the command “facilitated the safe transit of one billion barrels of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz... and we are working with Gulf states, shipping, and insurance companies to increase traffic volume in the strait.”

In a video statement released by CENTCOM on its official accounts, he added: “We have provided support to move more than one billion barrels of oil out of the Gulf over the past two months, and we have facilitated the secure transit of more than 2,000 commercial vessels through the strait via coordinated protection.”

He emphasized that the volume of oil and gas transported through Hormuz over the past two weeks is the highest in six months.

He added, “We are working with all partners in the region to enhance their air defense capabilities and to form a new offensive drone unit.”

He stressed that “Iran has not exported a single barrel of oil thanks to our tight blockade,” noting that “the main transit lanes in Hormuz are free of mines, and thousands of vessels have passed through the strait.”
