Fawarji on Asala's return: A normal matter

Salaf Fawakheri spoke with the program “ET al-Arabi” about the return of artist Assala to Syria after a 15-year absence and her performance of a concert in her home country. She explained that she was unable to follow the concert but heard positive reactions about it, expressing her wishes for Assala’s success. She affirmed that an artist’s return to their homeland is a natural matter, and that each person has their own circumstances and timing for taking such a step.

Salaf Fawakheri revealed her stance on returning to Syria after a period of absence, clarifying that her return to her country is settled in principle, but she is not tied to a specific date or a particular artistic project. She explained that the idea of returning does not require an occasion or an artistic work to justify it, considering that returning to one’s homeland is a natural right and that a person’s connection to their country does not depend on a specific timing or method.

Regarding the possibility of setting a date for her return, she said she does not know when this step will take place, but she affirmed her desire to return, stating: “God knows, certainly it is my country and I will return.” She noted that the matter is linked to the right time, which could be through a visit or an association with an artistic project.
