In support of the ongoing “Let’s Be Aware” financial awareness campaign launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait and the Kuwait Banks Association in collaboration with local banks, Kuwait International Bank (KIB) participated in an orientation session for new students at the American International University (AIU), coinciding with the start of the new academic year. This initiative reflects KIB’s commitment to supporting the youth segment and enhancing their banking culture and awareness, particularly regarding the safe use of banking services and protection against fraud.
The event featured a KIB team that engaged directly with students, answering their inquiries and providing advice and guidance on best practices to protect their accounts and banking data from fraudulent attempts.
The team also briefed students on key risks associated with the use of banking and digital services and how to handle them safely. The bank’s team emphasized the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of banking information, refraining from sharing passwords, passcodes, or one-time passwords (OTP) with anyone, and exercising caution when dealing with suspicious links, messages, and calls.
Commenting on the participation, Mariam Al-Nasser, Branch and Premium Banking Manager in the Retail Banking division at KIB, stated: “University events present a valuable opportunity to connect with students at a new stage in their lives and introduce them to the fundamental practices they should follow when managing their accounts and using banking and digital services.
Through these interactions, we aim to highlight common tactics used by fraudsters, how to identify fraudulent attempts and avoid falling victim to them, and to emphasize the importance of handling any requests for banking information or personal data with caution. We strive to present this guidance in a practical and accessible manner, helping students develop sound banking habits from the outset of their banking journey.”
KIB’s participation in the session stems from its continuous commitment to promoting financial and banking literacy across various segments of society, particularly among the youth, and contributing to the establishment of responsible and safe practices in the use of banking and digital services.
Through its involvement in the orientation session, KIB sought to establish direct communication channels with students and provide banking information in a simplified manner, thereby enhancing their financial awareness and empowering them to make safer decisions from the beginning of their university journey.
