Trump: Agreement with Denmark and Greenland grants the United States permanent security control over the island
US President Donald Trump announced that the United States has reached an agreement with Denmark and Greenland granting America permanent control over security in Greenland. In a post on the "Truth Social" platform, Trump wrote: "I am pleased to announce that the United States of America has concluded an agreement with the Kingdom of Denmark and Greenland that grants the United States permanent control over security and all other needs in Greenland, addressing all of our many American concerns, at no cost to the United States."
Trump added: "Under my direction, we worked with representatives of Denmark and Greenland to ensure that the United States retains, in perpetuity, the full capacity to do whatever is necessary in Greenland to secure its safety and the safety of the United States, and to defend both."
He continued, stating that no adversary of the United States will be able to establish a military base, maintain a military presence, or make sensitive investments in Greenland without our explicit written consent.
Trump clarified that "for over 100 years, presidents have recognized the strategic importance of Greenland, but none were able to take action on it. I am proud to be the president who has finally and decisively addressed this critically important situation, and I confirm that this is a 'lifetime' agreement, with no end."
The US President said: "We are honored by what has just been accomplished, and the American people will take pride in everything agreed upon today. We will immediately begin the process of establishing a significant military presence in the appropriate part of Greenland, where numerous sites exist. We will work with the people of Greenland to develop and build it."
He affirmed that this solution is ideal for the United States, Denmark, Greenland, and all our allies. "We look forward to working with the wonderful peoples of Denmark and Greenland toward a prosperous future for this vast area of immense strategic importance. We will protect it with all our might! This is a dream realized for the United States of America, a dream of great importance and significance."
