Al-Dhufairi and Al-Hawail carry the Kuwait flag at the opening ceremony of the Asian Games today

Ibrahim Al-Dhafiri, an athlete from the national athletics team, and Sarah Al-Hawail, a shooter from the national shooting team, have been selected to carry the flag of the State of Kuwait at the opening ceremony of the 20th Asian Games, “Aichi-Nagoya 2026,” held today, Saturday. The Games are being hosted in Japan until October 4 next, with a record participation of 11,000 athletes representing 45 countries and regions, including Olympic and world champions, competing in 43 sports and 71 disciplines in the largest multi-sport event on the continent.

The opening ceremony will take place at Mizuho Park Stadium in Nagoya, featuring a series of artistic and cultural performances that reflect the identity of Aichi and Nagoya and Japanese culture, alongside a celebration of the cultural diversity of the Asian continent.

The Games will run for 16 days, comprising 469 events across 43 sports and 71 disciplines, with athletes from across the continent competing for 1,407 medals in an edition marked by broad participation from various Asian countries and regions.
