Kuwait endorsed for membership on the IAEA Board of Governors for the 2026-2028 term

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s gratitude to the member states of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for their unanimous endorsement, during the work of the 70th session of the General Conference, of Kuwait’s election to serve on the Agency’s Board of Governors for the period 2026–2028, representing the Middle East and South Asia (MESA) group. This outcome reflects the confidence placed in the State of Kuwait and its active role in supporting international efforts to enhance cooperation in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
The Ministry affirmed that Kuwait’s membership on the Board of Governors is a continuation of its steadfast approach to supporting the nuclear non-proliferation regime, strengthening the Agency’s safeguards system, and upholding the highest standards of nuclear security and safety, thereby contributing to the preservation of international peace and security and enhancing international cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
The Ministry also reaffirmed the State of Kuwait’s commitment to multilateralism and close cooperation with the IAEA and its member states, in order to achieve common objectives and support international efforts aimed at safeguarding international peace and security and promoting the peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
