GCC Secretary-General condemns Houthi attack on Saudi Arabia's Taif province

On Thursday, Jassim Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), strongly condemned the heinous Houthi attack that targeted the Taif Province in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia using a drone. The attack resulted in the death of one person and injuries to others, in addition to causing material damage.

In a statement, Al-Budaiwi said, “The Houthi group’s continued terrorist attacks and its repeated targeting of civilian and populated areas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represent a dangerous escalation and an unacceptable disregard for the lives and safety of civilians, as well as a blatant violation of all international laws and norms.”

He added that these repeated attacks call for a firm and responsible international stance against the treacherous Houthi practices, and for efforts to halt them and hold those responsible accountable, thereby ensuring the protection of civilians and preventing any further threats to the security and stability of the region.

Al-Budaiwi reaffirmed the GCC’s steadfast position and its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in confronting anything that threatens its security, stability, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens and residents. He emphasized that the GCC member states stand united with the Kingdom and support it in all measures and actions it takes to safeguard its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
