The Ministry of Social Affairs participated today in the third extraordinary meeting of the Standing Committee on Women’s Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, organized by the Council’s General Secretariat via video conferencing.
In a press statement, the ministry said the meeting discussed several issues related to empowering Gulf women and enhancing their role in the social development trajectory of the GCC states, as well as a proposal to designate a day to celebrate Gulf women and the mechanism for commemorating it annually.
The statement quoted committee member Dr. Malak Al-Rashid as emphasizing Kuwait’s commitment to strengthening GCC coordination and cooperation on issues related to women in general and Gulf women in particular.
Al-Rashid underscored the importance of highlighting the role of Gulf women at both the regional and international levels by unifying visions and efforts, thereby supporting their presence and participation in various international forums.
She noted that this would enhance the international reputation of the GCC states and underscore the position of Gulf women as active partners in the advancement of Gulf societies.
