Pharmacist Hamoud Al-Shammari, Head of the Pharmacy Department at Al-Jahra Hospital, announced the opening of Pharmacy No. 2, dedicated to serving outpatient clinic visitors, including the orthopedics, pediatrics, and otolaryngology (ENT) clinics. This expansion is part of the ongoing effort to broaden pharmacy services and facilitate patients’ access to their medications.
In a statement to Al-Anba, Al-Shammari said that the new pharmacy was opened to ease the process for clinic visitors, given its proximity to the aforementioned clinics. This location helps reduce congestion, expedite the dispensing of medications, and shorten waiting times for patients seeking treatment.
He explained that the new pharmacy adds to the network of services provided by the Pharmacy Department across multiple locations within Al-Jahra Hospital’s new building. These include the first outpatient pharmacy, the central pharmacy serving inpatient wards and supplying weekly needs to certain departments, the maternity pharmacy catering to patients in the women’s and obstetrics wards, emergency visitors, and gynecology clinic patients, and the emergency pharmacy. The department also operates an intravenous nutrition pharmacy and other units, such as a specialized unit for antibiotics and a clinical pharmacy unit providing pharmaceutical consultations within the hospital wards. Additionally, the medical stores comprise a pharmaceutical warehouse and a medical consumables warehouse that supply all other departments, operating rooms, and wards.
Al-Shammari added that the department’s services extend beyond the new building to include the renal patients’ pharmacy in the Jaber Al-Ahmad Hemodialysis Building, the dermatology pharmacy in the Dermatology Clinics Building, and the pharmacy at the Emergency Center in Mideenat Al-Mutlaa N10. These locations enhance patients’ and visitors’ access to pharmacy services across various sites.
He emphasized that the Pharmacy Department possesses young, capable professionals and existing expertise sufficient to accommodate the continuous expansion of services. He noted that all efforts are directed toward serving outpatient clinic patients, emergency department visitors, and inpatients.
Al-Shammari appreciated the cooperation of various departments and entities that contributed to the preparation and opening of the new pharmacy. He extended his thanks to Dr. Ahmed Khaja, Director of the Al-Jahra Health District and Al-Jahra Hospital; Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Shammari, Head of the Medical Authority; the Engineering and Finance Departments of the district; and all those who contributed to completing and equipping the pharmacy.
He affirmed the Pharmacy Department’s commitment to continuously developing and expanding its services, striving to provide the best possible care for patients and visitors, and elevating the standard of pharmacy services at Al-Jahra Hospital.
