Criminal Court postpones agricultural holdings case to October 7 for arguments

Abdul Karim Ahmad: The Criminal Court held its first hearing yesterday to consider the case of manipulation of land holdings and agricultural plots, in which 71 individuals and 28 legal entities from the commercial sector are accused. The court ordered the arrest of eight defendants who had previously been released, and adjourned the case to October 7 for oral arguments and the presentation of the defense, while also directing the Public Prosecution to issue a notice for one of the fugitive defendants. The Public Prosecution had recently issued a statement confirming the establishment of crimes including bribery, intentional damage to public property, forgery, money laundering, and illicit enrichment in the facts of the case, noting that the value of the assets and benefits involved in the corruption arising from the trading of usufruct rights over state property amounted to approximately 8.66 million dinars.
