The General Authority for Food and Nutrition emphasized the importance of preparing a balanced food pack for students at the start of the academic year, given its role in supporting their health and enhancing their ability to concentrate and achieve academic success. The Authority explained that a healthy food pack should include a variety of components, such as whole grains, proteins, vegetables, fruits, and dairy products, to provide the necessary nutrients for an active and energetic school day.

It stressed the importance of instilling healthy eating habits in children from a young age, urging parents to choose balanced and nutritious meals that contribute to building a healthier generation with greater capacity for learning and productivity.

As part of the General Authority for Food and Nutrition’s efforts to raise awareness about the importance of reducing food loss and waste, the program hosted the Head of the Food Import Policies Department at the Authority to discuss this issue, its main causes and manifestations in society, and the role of individuals and families in mitigating it by adopting more conscious consumption practices and behaviors.

The discussion covered several key topics, most notably the importance of advance meal planning and purchasing only what is needed, avoiding impulsive buying driven by promotional offers, as well as waste resulting from events and banquets, its environmental impacts, and the importance of fostering a culture of appreciating blessings and rationalizing consumption to help reduce food waste and achieve sustainability.
