Second Syrian-Egyptian Government Meeting Held in Damascus

The second intergovernmental meeting between the Syrian Arab Republic and the Arab Republic of Egypt was held in Damascus yesterday. The meeting was chaired by Mohammad Al-Jafal, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and Ambassador Ihab Fahmy, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Arab Affairs and Egyptians Abroad. It was attended by representatives from the ministries, agencies, and relevant bodies in both countries responsible for economy, trade, investment, energy, oil and gas, electricity, and free zones.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the outcomes of the first intergovernmental meeting held in Cairo last April, including the consensus reached on cooperation in priority sectors. They also agreed on the proposed implementation mechanisms in this regard, including considering the formation of relevant technical working groups at the earliest possible time.

Both sides welcomed the completion of the formation of the Syrian-Egyptian Joint Business Council and the holding of its first session on the sidelines of the second intergovernmental meeting. They also agreed on the importance of convening a joint business forum to explore commercial and investment opportunities and advance economic cooperation in priority sectors between the two countries.
