Nabila Ebeid: Her conditions for working with the new generation

Artist Nabila Obeid revealed her stance on participating in dramatic works that feature her alongside the new generation of artists, explaining that her agreement depends on the nature of the project, the role offered, and its suitability for her artistic career.

In statements published by Laha Magazine, Obeid said she makes a point of following the works presented by artists and directors from the younger generations, and she takes the initiative to reach out to them and congratulate them when she finds a good project. She noted that she recently did so with actor Karim Abdel Aziz and director Peter Mimi.

She affirmed that the idea of collaborating with the new generation is not rejected by her, but she insists that the work must be at a level worthy of her artistic history and offer her a role that adds to her career rather than detracting from it.

Obeid clarified: “If I find a good project and a good role that befits my name and standing—and I put a hundred underlines under the word ‘if’—I will agree and have no objection, provided that the work does not diminish me, my career, or my persona. The principle is not rejected, but the work must add to me.”

In another development, Nabila Obeid is preparing to return to radio drama through a new series titled “Ya Banati La Tahirini Ma’ak” (My Daughter, Do Not Confuse Me with You), an adaptation of one of the novels by the late great writer Ihsan Abdel Quddous.
