Minister of Youth and Sports: Preparing a generation capable of meeting the demands of the labor market

The State Minister for Youth and Sports Affairs, Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma, honored 25 Kuwaiti students who completed the “Athar” initiative program, launched by the Investment Companies Association to empower students, prepare them for the workforce, and build a direct bridge between them and investment firms.
In a statement to KUNA following the ceremony, Minister Al-Jalahma said that the “Athar” initiative represents a distinctive model of partnership between the private sector and Kuwaiti youth. He noted that the initiative contributes to providing a training and preparatory environment that helps students acquire the skills and experience necessary for their academic and professional careers.
He added that directly linking students with investment companies opens new horizons for them to understand the nature of work in the financial and investment sectors and to benefit from national expertise and competencies. He emphasized that such initiatives contribute to preparing a generation capable of meeting the demands of the labor market.
Minister Al-Jalahma praised the efforts of the Investment Companies Association in launching the initiative and supporting Kuwaiti students, stressing the importance of continued cooperation between state institutions and the private sector in implementing programs and initiatives focused on developing youth capabilities and enabling their effective participation in development.
He underscored that investing in youth is an investment in Kuwait’s future, noting that the “Athar” initiative aligns with the objectives of the “Kuwait 2035” Vision in empowering youth and preparing national human resources. He extended his congratulations to the 25 students, wishing them continued success, the realization of their aspirations, and contribution to serving their country.
For his part, Abdullah Al-Turk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Investment Companies Association, stated in a speech that the “Athar” initiative comes within the framework of the Association’s commitment to supporting, empowering, and preparing Kuwaiti youth for the labor market through training programs that combine theoretical knowledge with practical application. He explained that the initiative adopted a group of students from various Kuwaiti universities with the aim of developing their skills and familiarizing them with the nature of work in the investment sector.
Al-Turk said that the students underwent an intensive six-week training program covering a range of topics and skills designed to enhance their capabilities and prepare them for the transition to the practical phase, allowing them to benefit from specialized expertise in investment companies.
He added that the second phase of the initiative involved a field program in which Arzan Financial, Safwa Investment, Tharwa Investment, Kamco Invest, and Noor Investment hosted the participating students, providing them with the opportunity to closely observe the work environment, understand various aspects of work in the investment sector, and apply the knowledge and skills they acquired during the training program.
He expressed his appreciation to the companies participating in the initiative for the support and hosting they provided to the students, affirming that “Athar” reflects the importance of the private sector’s integrated efforts in investing in youth potential and building a generation of qualified national human resources capable of contributing to the development of the national economy and achieving the goals of the “Kuwait 2035” Vision.
