Rabie: Challenges and crises have proven that the Suez Canal possesses the expertise, competencies, decision-making mechanisms, and crisis management capabilities

On the occasion of the Suez Canal Authority’s celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Triumph of the Egyptian Will (Pilot’s Day), Major General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Authority, affirmed that the Suez Canal is fully capable of upholding its pivotal role in ensuring the sustainability of global supply chains and serving trade flows between East and West, despite current challenges.

He made these remarks in an address delivered to the canal’s pilots via the Tetra wireless communication system.

Major General Osama Rabie explained that the various challenges and successive crises have demonstrated the Authority’s possession of the expertise, competencies, decision-making mechanisms, and crisis management capabilities that enable it to maintain its leading position within the maritime community.

The Chairman noted that commemorating Pilot’s Day serves as a reminder of the heroism and sacrifices made by the pioneering generation of canal pilots following the historic “Nationalization of the Canal,” a legacy subsequently passed down through successive generations. He extended his highest regards and appreciation to all canal pilots for their outstanding performance during the difficult periods from 2019 to the present, wishing them continued success in carrying out their duties as ambassadors of Egypt to the world.
