Kuwait Airways and Emirates Expand Partnership with Mutual Codeshare Agreement

Kuwait Airways and Emirates have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at expanding the scope of their existing interline partnership, paving the way for its conversion into a reciprocal codeshare agreement. This move is designed to enhance travel and connectivity options for customers of both airlines.

The signing took place on the sidelines of Kuwait Airways’ participation, in collaboration with Visit Kuwait, at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai. The event serves as a key platform for airlines and the travel and tourism sector to meet, explore collaboration opportunities, and discuss future partnerships.

In this regard, Captain Abdulwahab Al-Shatti, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Kuwait Airways, stated that the agreement reflects the company’s commitment to expanding its strategic partnerships with global airlines, thereby providing customers with broader and more flexible travel options.

Al-Shatti added: “Under the new arrangements, Kuwait Airways customers will be able to access a wider range of destinations within Emirates’ network via its Dubai hub. They will also be able to book multi-sector flights on a single ticket and check baggage directly to their final destination, offering a more seamless and convenient travel experience.”

He explained that these arrangements will also allow Emirates customers to benefit from Kuwait Airways’ network of destinations and services, contributing to expanded travel options and enhanced air connectivity between Kuwait and the various destinations served by both carriers.

Al-Shatti praised the strategic relationship between Kuwait Airways and Emirates, noting that the national carrier is committed to strengthening and developing this cooperation to serve the interests of both parties. He emphasized that this reflects the depth of the fraternal ties between the State of Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, adding that expanding the partnership represents an important step toward providing broader travel options and enhancing connectivity between the two airlines’ networks.

He further noted that participation in such exhibitions provides valuable opportunities to hold meetings and exchange expertise with various entities and companies operating in the aviation, travel, and tourism sectors. In addition, it allows for the exploration of collaboration opportunities and the signing of agreements that strengthen partnerships and facilitate knowledge exchange among all parties. Al-Shatti indicated that this agreement is an extension of several other agreements and partnerships that Kuwait Airways plans to sign in the coming period with various entities and companies, with the aim of expanding its strategic partnership network and enhancing travel and connectivity options for its customers, thereby supporting the company’s future plans.

For his part, Adnan Kazim, Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Emirates, said: “This step reflects the evolution of our partnership with Kuwait Airways and represents a model of collaboration that creates real value for customers, opening up a wider range of travel and connectivity options across the region and beyond.”
