Higher Education and Education Ministries Discuss Alignment of Track System with Overseas Scholarship Plan

Dr. Badr Al-Basiri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, met with Dr. Khalid Al-Rashid, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, to discuss the alignment of the secondary school track system with the external scholarship plan and the admission requirements of the specialized fields and universities included in it.

In a press statement, Al-Basiri affirmed that the meeting was held within the framework of early coordination between the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Education regarding the track regulations, which are scheduled to take effect from the current academic year 2026/2027. This aims to ensure that the tracks chosen by students in secondary school are aligned with the requirements for completing their university studies.

He explained that both sides discussed the academic options included in the track regulations and their impact on the educational opportunities available to students after graduation. This contributes to providing students with a clear vision when selecting their track and avoiding any challenges that may affect their future academic choices or their ability to enroll in their desired major.

Al-Basiri emphasized that the student’s interest is the top priority in the coordination and joint procedures between the two sides. He underscored the importance of ensuring that students’ choices in secondary school are based on a clear understanding of the future university opportunities and tracks available to them.

Al-Basiri also pointed to the ongoing technical coordination between the two ministries to study all aspects related to the implementation of the track system, aiming to achieve integration between the secondary and university stages and to ensure that options are clear to students and their parents from an early stage.
