French singer Catherine Ringer dies at 68

French singer Catherine Ringer died at the age of 68 after a battle with cancer, her family told the Associated Press. In a statement, the family of the singer from the band “Rita Mitsouko” said, “With profound sadness and grief, the family and friends of Catherine Ringer mourn her sudden passing following her diagnosis with cancer on the night of September 14, 2026.”

In the early 1980s, Ringer co-founded the rock band “Rita Mitsouko” with her guitar-playing partner, Fred Chichan, who died in 2007. The band’s well-known songs, including “Andy” and “Sea Come Sa,” gained widespread popularity over the years.

Ringer’s family added, “The prominent French artist Catherine Ringer left her mark on many generations through her voice, her songs, and her unique style.”

Ringer was born on October 18, 1957, in the suburbs of Paris, to a painter father and an architect mother. She left school at the age of 15 and went on to explore various artistic fields.
