"Supreme Traffic Council": Enhancing the traffic system and raising road safety levels

The Supreme Traffic Council held its 29th meeting, chaired by Lieutenant General Abdulwahab Al-Wahib, Deputy Minister of Interior, in the presence of council members and representatives from relevant agencies, at the Nawaf Al-Ahmad Building.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Interior, the meeting reviewed traffic statistics and indicators, assessing the impact of implementing the Traffic Law on roads and the results achieved in enhancing road safety and reducing violations and improper traffic behaviors.

The council also reviewed the curriculum for the traffic awareness subject for high school students, prepared by the council in coordination with the Ministry of Education. This curriculum aligns with the vision and recent updates to the Traffic Law and traffic flow on Kuwait’s roads, aiming to raise students’ traffic culture and awareness, while also examining the extension of this subject to various educational stages.

The council reviewed a report on addressing the issue of sand dune accumulation on roads and followed up on the implementation of recommendations by the specialized committee on this matter, scheduled for early October under the supervision of the Governor of Al-Ahmad Governorate. Additionally, the council reviewed the national project to develop and improve the public bus transport system in Kuwait and its inclusion among the Ministry of Interior’s development projects.

The council emphasized the importance of continued coordination and integration among relevant agencies, and working to develop the traffic system and enhance road safety levels, thereby contributing to the protection of lives and property and ensuring smooth traffic flow across all regions of the country.

Attending the meeting were: Kufaya Al-Najdi, Acting Deputy Minister of Public Works; Dr. Khalid Al-Rashid, Deputy Minister of Education; Manal Al-Asfour, Director General of the Municipality; Lieutenant Colonel Ahmad Al-Azami, Head of the Traffic and Operations Sector; Lieutenant General Rashid Al-Hajri, Director General of the General Traffic Directorate; Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Al-Adwani, Secretary General of the Supreme Traffic Council; and Colonel Yusuf Al-Khairi, Assistant Director General of the General Directorate of Governorates Affairs.
