Interior Ministry: Warns travelers against carrying luggage or valuables belonging to others: Good faith does not exempt one from legal accountability

The Ministry of Interior issued a warning to citizens and residents, particularly travelers, stressing the necessity of refraining from transporting any luggage, bags, parcels, containers, or packages belonging to others into or out of the country, in order to prevent their good faith from being exploited by drug and psychotropic substance smugglers.

The Ministry clarified in a press statement that smugglers may employ various methods of concealment and use others to transport prohibited items through border crossings, thereby exposing the carriers to legal accountability. It emphasized the importance of not complying with any requests to transport items for others, regardless of the justifications or the relationship with the person handing them over.

In this context, competent authorities managed to apprehend three travelers in separate cases upon their arrival in the country, after finding drugs and psychotropic substances hidden inside medicine containers in their possession.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had received these containers from individuals outside Kuwait with the aim of delivering them to persons inside the country, after deliberately concealing the true nature of their contents and misleading them into believing they were medicines. However, inspection procedures uncovered that the containers held drugs and psychotropic substances. The suspects and seized items were referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal actions against them, and investigations are continuing to uncover all circumstances of the cases and the individuals involved.
