Barcelona wants no surprises from Santander today

Barcelona will face Racing Santander today in the sixth round of the Spanish La Liga. The Blaugrana appear poised to extend their winning streak and maintain a perfect record, as they currently lead the standings with 15 points after winning all their matches so far, while Santander sits in tenth place with seven points.

Also on the schedule today are Atletico Madrid vs. Osasuna, Deportivo La Coruna vs. Sevilla, and Levante vs. Athletic Bilbao.

In the final match of the fifth round, Real Betis defeated host Villarreal 2-1.

After falling behind to a goal by Villarreal’s Gerard Moreno in the 29th minute, the Andalusian side turned the tide with two goals in the final four minutes of the first half, scored by Colombian Cucho Hernandez (39) and Brazilian Bernardo de Souza “Natan” (43).

The team managed by Chilean Manuel Pellegrini climbed to third place with 12 points.

Meanwhile, Villarreal, also known as the “Yellow Submarines,” continue to squander points, still searching for their first La Liga victory this season after two draws and three losses, leaving them in 18th place with two points.

Villarreal’s veteran striker Moreno (34) told Movistar channel, “Right now, everything is going against us, and teams are punishing us.”

He added, “We need to stay united and demand more from ourselves… Perhaps when we fall behind, anxiety sets in and things become even harder.”

He continued, “It’s hard to explain how few points we have… We need to be a team now more than ever.”
