The Public Authority for Anti-Corruption (Nazaha) participated in the virtual preparatory sessions to discuss draft resolutions scheduled for presentation at the ninth meeting of the Open-Ended Committee of Governmental Experts and Representatives of Independent Bodies from the States Parties to the Arab Convention against Corruption. The sessions were held remotely in coordination with the Secretariat-General of the Arab League, in preparation for the sixth Conference of the States Parties, which will take place in Doha from the 21st to the 23rd of this month.

The sessions addressed a number of draft resolutions intended for the sixth Conference of the States Parties, including a draft resolution submitted by the State of Kuwait on “Enhancing the Transparency of Beneficial Ownership and Identifying the Ultimate Beneficial Owners in Legal Persons and Legal Arrangements.” This draft was prepared by Nazaha, which will present it on behalf of the State of Kuwait at the conference.

The Nazaha delegation outlined the State of Kuwait’s efforts to enhance beneficial ownership transparency, as well as the rationale and content of the draft resolution, before the representatives of the States Parties. The session witnessed active engagement from the delegations, with participants exchanging observations and proposals regarding the draft resolution. The delegation of the State of Kuwait expressed its readiness to continue consultations with its counterparts in the remaining period before the conference, ensuring the formulation of a text that enjoys consensus and responds to the priorities of all States Parties.

Nazaha’s participation in these sessions reflects the State of Kuwait’s commitment to actively contributing to the formulation of common Arab policies in the fields of corruption prevention and combat, and to strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise among corresponding Arab bodies, thereby serving the optimal implementation of the provisions of the Arab Convention against Corruption.
