Minister of Social Affairs: High directives to mobilize all efforts and resources to protect the family unit

Dr. Amthal Al-Huwail, Minister of Social Affairs, Labor, and Social Development, chaired the third meeting of the National Committee for Protection from Domestic Violence, to monitor the implementation steps aimed at enhancing family security and social stability in the country. The meeting’s agenda included discussing initiatives and insights presented by various member stakeholders of the committee, and examining mechanisms to strengthen joint efforts and institutional coordination among government sectors and civil society organizations. Discussions focused on activating joint efforts to advance the formulation of a comprehensive and integrated national strategy for protection from domestic violence, ensuring the establishment of a sophisticated and sustainable preventive and therapeutic system. In this context, Dr. Al-Huwail emphasized that drafting this comprehensive strategy translates the directives of the supreme leadership regarding the necessity of mobilizing all efforts and resources to protect the family unit, and implements relevant decrees and legislation. She clarified that the integration of roles among relevant stakeholders and the discussion of their initiatives constitute the fundamental pillar for developing mechanisms to monitor reports, provide immediate and effective protection to victims, offer necessary psychological and social support to all family members, and raise community awareness of the system of rights and responsibilities in accordance with the state’s laws and legislation.
