CENTCOM: Iran's claim of oil tanker collision with a sea mine is "false"

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) claim that a Panama-flagged tanker struck a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz was false. In a statement on X, CENTCOM said: “The IRGC claims that a Panama-flagged oil tanker recently struck a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz. This is a false claim.”

The U.S. Central Command added, “Last month, the Panama-flagged oil tanker El Gayah was hit by an Iranian missile attack, which disabled it. At the end of this week, Iran launched another attack on the tanker using a drone while it was anchored in waters off the coast of Oman. A regional partner country is currently towing the tanker. This false claim by the IRGC is another example of their lies and intimidation tactics in their efforts to disrupt commercial shipping in the strait.”
