Al-Dughaim returns to "Yakhti Ala Ummi" and thanks Mohammed Al-Humaidi for honoring him

After a hiatus of more than a quarter of a century, media personality Mohammed Al-Dughaim returns to one of the most famous songs associated with his name and the memories of generations of children, “My Boat on Its Mother,” which he first presented in 1998. He is doing so by re-presenting, recording, and filming it in a new way, in an honorary initiative by artist and director Mohammed Al-Humaidi and the team behind the play “Happy Birthday.”

The re-presentation of the song coincides with the back-to-school season, with the participation of the “Back Stage Group” team, in an experience through which Al-Humaidi sought to celebrate a song that remains present in the public’s consciousness, despite 28 years having passed since its original release.

Regarding the idea of collaborating with artist and director Mohammed Al-Humaidi, Al-Dughaim clarified to Al-Anbaa that the initiative began when Al-Humaidi contacted him before the back-to-school season and proposed re-presenting the song “My Boat on Its Mother” in a new version. However, Al-Dughaim emphasized from the outset that the project is not a new song titled “My Boat on Its Mother 2,” but rather a revival of the original song he presented 28 years ago, specifically in 1998, with some new additions while preserving its original melody and spirit. The lyrics were written by Abdullah Al-Hudhran and the music was composed by Niyaf.

On the details of the song’s return after all these years, Al-Dughaim explained: “Imagine that the same scenario repeats itself after 28 years. Al-Humaidi called me last Friday, and I was also outside Kuwait, in Egypt. He told me, ‘Mohammed, I will not change anything from your song (My Boat on Its Mother), but I will add some lines to it while preserving its original melody.’”

Al-Dughaim continued: “I asked him about the reason, and he told me, ‘This song has been around since 1998. Since then, I and other artists have presented dozens of plays for children, and almost all their songs have been forgotten, except for your song (My Boat on Its Mother). We will film it as a music video as a gift from us, the team behind the play (Happy Birthday), and the song will be timed to coincide with the back-to-school season.’”

Regarding the participation of the “Back Stage Group” team, Al-Dughaim said: “Several stars from the team participated in the video clip, starting with Hessa Al-Nabhan, Abdulaziz Al-Saadoun, Suad Al-Husseini, Hussein Al-Mahana, Ghadeer Hassan, and other artists. The song was filmed, and the atmosphere during shooting was wonderful.”

On the addition made by Al-Humaidi to the song, Al-Dughaim said: “He added a couplet in the middle of the song: ‘Ring the bell, ring.’ This addition fits the concept of the work and its connection to the back-to-school season, while preserving the song’s original melody.” Al-Dughaim sent a message of thanks to Al-Humaidi through Al-Anbaa for this honor, which means a great deal to him.
