Minister of Development and Sustainability and Director of the Applied College Discuss Strategic Partnership to Consolidate Institutional Sustainability

State Minister for Development and Sustainability, Dr. Reem Al-Faleh, and Director General of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET), Dr. Hassan Al-Fajam, held a coordination meeting to discuss a strategic partnership aimed at embedding sustainability as a measurable institutional practice within the applied education and training system.

In a press statement, PAAET said the two sides discussed implementing the government’s environmental sustainability reporting system across the authority’s colleges, institutes, and facilities. This includes measuring indicators related to energy and water use, waste, and resource consumption, as well as building a documented database to support decision-making and identify improvement opportunities.

It added that the meeting reviewed existing educational outputs to integrate sustainability standards into curricula, and directed a portion of research and graduation projects toward national priorities and initiatives determined in coordination with the ministry.

The statement clarified that the meeting also addressed gradually transforming the authority’s facilities into a practical model of sustainability by enhancing energy and water efficiency, implementing waste segregation, measuring environmental impact, and preparing an institutional sustainability report. It also highlighted the activation of community service and lifelong learning programs, sustainability ambassadors and clubs, volunteer initiatives, and green entrepreneurship.

The authority noted efforts to develop indicators and digital monitoring dashboards, and to promote green building standards in the authority’s future projects. An agreement was reached to translate these pathways into an organized cooperation framework featuring joint initiatives, clear monitoring indicators, and impact measurement mechanisms.
