Al-Shalhoub: Drone Usage Regulation and Air Sports Law a Crucial Step

Ahmed Al-Shalhoub, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Aero Sports Club, praised the issuance of the law regulating the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), light sport aircraft, various aero sports, and related activities, emphasizing that it represents a crucial step toward organizing these activities in the country within a clear and safe legal framework.

In a media statement, Al-Shalhoub said that the enactment of the law was a long-awaited key demand from aero sports practitioners, enthusiasts, and club members. He commended the comprehensive legislative framework it provides, which outlines the conditions for registration, licensing, authorization, operation, obligations, prohibitions, and penalties for violations.

He lauded the government support afforded to aero sports and the attention paid by the Cabinet, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, to youth development, capacity building, and fostering hobbies in aviation fields. He stressed that regulating these sports contributes to providing a safe environment for their practice while simultaneously safeguarding air navigation safety, security aspects, and public order.

Al-Shalhoub expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the efforts of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Ministries of Interior and Defense, and other relevant government entities in regulating aviation activities. He reaffirmed the club’s and its members’ commitment to adhering to all conditions, controls, and executive regulations governing these sports.
