"Integrity": Uniting Gulf Efforts to Prevent and Combat Corruption

Nada Abu Nasr: The State of Kuwait, represented by Dr. Majid Al-Daihani, Vice President of the Public Authority for Combating Corruption (Nazaha), participated in the 11th Meeting of the Deputies Committee on Combating Corruption of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held via video conferencing technology.

In his speech, the Vice President of the Authority praised the Gulf efforts to strengthen the integrity system and combat corruption, at a time when international demands are rising to consolidate integrity values and enhance supervisory frameworks. He highlighted Nazaha’s commitment to cooperating with sister Gulf states and its key initiatives within the framework of the Ministerial Committee on Combating Corruption.

The meeting addressed several projects aimed at unifying Gulf efforts to prevent and combat corruption, including the establishment of a “Working Mechanism for the Experts Committee on Combating Corruption in GCC Countries.” This project, proposed by Kuwait, seeks to govern and regulate the work of the Experts Committee, thereby enhancing coordination among member states and unifying their perspectives and positions in relevant regional and international forums, in line with the aspirations of the heads of anti-corruption authorities in the GCC countries.

The meeting also discussed the GCC Countries’ Competition for Research and Studies in the fields of integrity protection and anti-corruption for 2026, titled “Combating Corruption through Non-Judicial Means: Theoretical Approaches and Practical Experiences,” as well as the review of research evaluation results submitted by reviewers appointed by GCC countries. Additionally, the meeting discussed organizing a workshop titled “Mechanisms for Enhancing Integrity and Compliance in the Private Sector,” along with recommendations from the Gulf Workshop titled “Combating Corruption and Identifying Beneficial Ownership in GCC Countries,” which was organized by Nazaha in coordination with the General Secretariat in July 2026.

Nazaha’s participation in this meeting embodies the State of Kuwait’s commitment to strengthening joint Gulf efforts in the field of preventing and combating corruption, and its keenness to make an active contribution to safeguarding the values of integrity and transparency, serving the societies of the GCC countries.
