Minister of Planning: Digitalization of Government and Financial Services is a Key Pillar for Building a More Efficient and Competitive Economy

Cairo — Nadeh Imam Dr. Ahmed Rustom, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, conducted an extensive visit to the headquarters of “iFinance,” a financial and digital investments group, in which the National Investment Bank holds a 21.8% stake in its capital. The visit included an expanded meeting with Eng. Ibrahim Sarhan, Chairman of the Group’s Board of Directors, attended by executive leaders from both the company and the ministry, to discuss future expansion plans and the group’s role in supporting Egypt’s digital infrastructure.

During the meeting, Dr. Rustom praised the exceptional journey of “iFinance” and its success in transforming from a single company into an integrated investment group comprising several subsidiaries, thereby becoming a technical arm and strategic partner in implementing major national projects.

Rustom explained that the National Investment Bank’s stake in the group represents a “model of successful institutional investment” that achieves a precise balance between generating high economic returns, creating new job opportunities, and delivering sustainable developmental impact that serves Egypt’s Vision 2030.

The Minister of Planning and Economic Development emphasized that completing the electronic payment and collection system and developing government services provided to citizens is no longer a luxury, but a fundamental pillar for enhancing transparency and building a more efficient, competitive economy. He affirmed that the ministry is working with doubled efforts to maximize the role of the National Investment Bank and its affiliated entities in supporting leading national entities in this vital sector.

For his part, Eng. Ibrahim Sarhan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “iFinance” Group, welcomed the visit by the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, affirming that the group adopts an ambitious growth strategy focused on maximizing its technological and financial capabilities and consolidating its position as a comprehensive provider of secure digital solutions in Egypt and the region.

Sarhan clarified that the group’s contributions now extend to managing and operating the digital infrastructure of several key national projects. Through an integrated vision aimed at improving expenditure efficiency and facilitating revenue collection, these initiatives include the technological system for “Universal Health Insurance,” as well as the Egyptian government’s financial network. He stressed that these projects go beyond being mere technical solutions, becoming vital arteries that ensure rapid service delivery to citizens and enhance the efficiency of financial operations and government spending, thereby positively impacting the strength of the national economy.
