Sisi reaffirms to Indian Prime Minister Egypt's firm stance on resolving crises through peaceful means

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi reaffirmed the fixed principles of Egypt’s position, emphasizing the necessity of resolving crises through peaceful means and negotiation, prioritizing diplomatic solutions, respecting international law, and upholding the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of states, as well as halting escalation and the use of force.

This came during a meeting between President el-Sisi and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday, held on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit taking place in the capital, New Delhi.

Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, stated that the Indian Prime Minister welcomed the President and Egypt’s active participation in the summit. President el-Sisi praised India’s successful presidency of the BRICS grouping during the current year and its efforts to enhance cooperation and coordination among member states, in a manner that serves the interests of the Global South and supports multilateral international action.

The spokesman added that the talks addressed ways to develop Egyptian-Indian relations and build upon the growing momentum witnessed since elevating ties to a strategic partnership level in 2023. President el-Sisi stressed the importance of continuing to take concrete steps to strengthen this partnership, including increasing bilateral trade volume to $12 billion and boosting Indian investments in Egypt, particularly in manufacturing, technology, clean energy, and the automotive industry. The President also highlighted Egypt’s competitive advantages, foremost among them its strategic location, skilled human resources, and a wide network of free trade agreements, in addition to the incentives offered by the Suez Canal Economic Zone and other industrial areas.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy clarified that the Indian Prime Minister reaffirmed his country’s commitment to further developing bilateral relations across various fields. He praised Egypt’s pivotal role in its regional environment and its significant economic and human potential. He also emphasized encouraging Indian companies to increase their investments in Egypt and explore available opportunities, stressing the importance of maximizing the role of business communities in both countries and strengthening ties between them to support joint projects and the transfer of expertise and technology.

In this context, opportunities for cooperation in new and renewable energy, green hydrogen, pharmaceutical industries, and information technology were discussed, opening new horizons for the private sector in both countries.

The meeting also featured an exchange of views on several regional and international issues of mutual interest, foremost among them the Palestinian issue.
