Pakistani Prime Minister Reiterates Full Solidarity with Saudi Arabia to Saudi Crown Prince

Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman received a phone call from Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. During the call, the two discussed developments in the region and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Sharif expressed his country’s condemnation of the attacks being carried out against the Kingdom by the Houthi militia, and strongly denounced the blatant violations of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, reaffirming Pakistan’s full solidarity with and support for the Kingdom. The Pakistani Prime Minister also condemned the attacks targeting the Kingdom’s vital oil infrastructure and reiterated Pakistan’s support for the Kingdom’s security. He praised the Kingdom’s stance of restraint and its support for Iraqi government efforts to prevent the use of Iraqi territory for attacks against the Kingdom and neighboring states.

For his part, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan affirmed that “the security, territorial integrity, and assets of the Kingdom are inviolable, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries will not accept any targeting of their territory, facilities, or vital interests, regardless of the pretexts or labels used.”

This statement came during Prince Faisal’s participation, on behalf of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in the second day of the BRICS summit in New Delhi, where the Kingdom attended as an invited guest. In a speech at the meeting, which was titled “Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability: Shaping the Future for Inclusive Global Growth,” the Foreign Minister stated that, given current regional developments, priority should be given to de-escalation and creating space for political and diplomatic efforts. He emphasized that security in the Arabian Gulf cannot be stabilized without respecting the sovereignty and independence of its states, refraining from interference in their internal affairs, adhering to the principles of good neighborliness, and resolving disputes through peaceful means.

Minister Prince Faisal stressed the importance of preserving freedom of navigation and the safety of commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and other sea lanes, noting that any disruption there would have repercussions on global markets, supply chains, and economic growth.

He concluded his remarks by highlighting the purposes for which international institutions were established and the urgent need to enhance their capacity to fulfill their responsibilities. He added that the credibility of the international system is linked to its consistency in applying its rules and laws, and pointed to the Kingdom’s desire to continue dialogue with the BRICS group and with various partners in the international community.

On the ground, the official spokesperson for the Saudi Civil Defense stated that last Saturday, the Civil Defense in Al-Tawl province, Jazan region, responded to the impact of a projectile fired by the terrorist Houthi militia, which resulted in two injuries and material damage to a mosque and several buildings and vehicles. The spokesperson stressed that targeting civilian objects constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, and that standard procedures for such incidents were implemented.
