Trump: Iran wants a deal at any price, and I will not sign an imperfect agreement with it

US President Donald Trump said Iran wants a deal at any cost, but he stressed, “I will not sign an imperfect deal with Iran.” During the second day of his visit to Ireland, Trump reiterated to journalists that Tehran “will not get a nuclear weapon” and expressed his belief that “Iran’s war will end, perhaps before or shortly after the US midterm elections.”

The US president then turned to the Russia-Ukraine war, urging Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to stop attacking oil facilities in Russia. He said, “We spoke with Mr. Zelensky about this. There are many other targets. Do not target diesel fuel, because it causes a shortage” of the material, and argued that this shortage is not being caused by the war in the Middle East, but rather “by what is happening between Russia and Ukraine.”

The day before, the US president affirmed that he “wishes to see a united Ireland,” and stated after meeting Irish Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Michael Martin that reunifying the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland would be “a wonderful thing.” He told reporters, “In my view, this will eventually happen,” while adding, “Obviously, the United Kingdom has a view on this matter.”
