Amendments to Fees for Hotel and Recreational Activities

The Ministry of Media issued a decision setting fees for its media and tourism activities, with more detailed hotel renewal fees based on star ratings. One-, two-, and three-star hotels remain at 750 Kuwaiti dinars for renewal, while four- and five-star hotels now incur a renewal fee of 1,000 dinars.

The Ministry raised the issuance fee for serviced apartments to 1,500 dinars, up from 750 dinars. Renewal fees for serviced apartments were categorized into three tiers: 400 dinars for the first category, 500 dinars for the second, and 600 dinars for deluxe units, whereas the previous decision set a uniform renewal fee of 400 dinars for all categories. The trading fee for serviced apartments was also increased from 750 to 1,500 dinars, while other modification and loss-compensation fees remained unchanged.

Resort issuance fees were raised to 1,900 dinars, up from 750 dinars. Renewal fees for resorts are now more granular: 800 dinars for three-star properties, and 1,000 dinars for four- and five-star properties, replacing the previous flat rate of 400 dinars. The trading fee for resorts increased from 750 to 1,900 dinars, with other modification and loss-compensation fees remaining the same.

The new decision introduced a fee of 20 dinars for “To Whom It May Concern” certificates and 50 dinars for classification and reclassification request certificates, which were previously free of charge.

Fees for artistic production, advertising, and public relations activities were increased: issuance fees rose to 400 dinars (from 90), renewal fees to 250 dinars (from 60), and trading fees to 400 dinars (from 90). Modification and loss-compensation fees remained at 40 dinars.

Fees for visual publications, audio publications, and retail sale of video games, software, and accessories were raised. Issuance fees increased to 300 dinars (from 90), renewal fees to 200 dinars (from 60), and trading fees to 300 dinars (from 90). Loss-compensation and modification fees remained unchanged.

Similarly, issuance fees for the retail sale of video games, software, and accessories rose to 300 dinars (from 90), renewal fees to 200 dinars (from 60), and trading fees to 300 dinars (from 90).

Fees for indoor and outdoor cinema operations increased: issuance fees rose to 4,500 dinars (from 3,000), renewal fees to 1,250 dinars (from 800), and trading fees to 4,500 dinars (from 3,000).

Issuance fees for the activity of distributing cinematic films jumped to 5,250 dinars (from 1,500), renewal fees to 2,600 dinars (from 750), and trading fees to 5,250 dinars (from 1,500).

Fees for issuing licenses for the management and operation of audio-visual studios increased to 1,250 dinars (from 500), renewal fees to 600 dinars (from 250), and trading fees to 1,250 dinars (from 500).

The decision also added advertising and marketing activities, with an issuance fee of 400 dinars, renewal fees of 200 dinars, modification or loss-compensation fees of 40 dinars, and trading fees of 400 dinars.
