The academic year began with the first day of school for first-grade students

Alaa Khalifa confirmed that the Ministry of Education is fully prepared to welcome 481,000 students for the new academic year 2026/2027, by readjusting schools, educational and administrative staff, and providing a suitable, safe, and stable learning environment for students, while completing all requirements to ensure the smooth start and continuity of the educational process and the achievement of its objectives from the very first day.

In a press statement, the Ministry of Education said that the academic year began yesterday morning with the attendance of first-grade primary students, while students in the remaining grades of primary, intermediate, and secondary stages will begin their classes today, Monday, with kindergarten children starting their attendance on Wednesday.

The Ministry noted that the total number of students in government schools, private Arab schools, and religious education institutions amounts to 481,511 students, clarifying that this figure includes all educational stages and Arab educational systems that enroll students with the launch of the new academic year.

The Ministry reaffirmed its readiness to welcome students and its relevant sectors’ continuation of implementing and monitoring necessary measures to ensure school preparedness and the provision of requirements for the educational process, thereby supporting an organized and stable start to the new academic year.

It was clarified that the percentage of books received from printing presses and distributed to schools reached 97%, with 137 out of 141 textbooks received, as part of measures taken to provide the necessary educational materials for students at the beginning of the school year.

The Ministry stressed its continued monitoring of all aspects of preparation for the new academic year and its efforts to provide the necessary requirements for schools, educational and administrative staff, and students, in order to enhance the stability of the educational process and ensure its launch as hoped.

It reaffirmed its commitment to providing a safe learning environment for students and those working in the educational field, and its continued efforts to monitor school readiness and complete requirements related to the academic year, thereby supporting the provision of a stable and motivating environment for learning and academic achievement.

Intensive deployments of security and traffic officers were witnessed on main roads, intersections, and around schools to regulate traffic flow and facilitate the arrival of students and their parents, coinciding with the launch of the new academic year (2026-2027).

With full appreciation and respect for their efforts and dedication, security and traffic officers began their duties from the early morning hours, regulating vehicle movement at school entrances and exits and managing traffic congestion on access roads, thereby contributing to reducing jams and ensuring the safety of road users.

This security deployment coincides with the launch of the Ministry of Interior’s comprehensive awareness security campaign under the slogan “Prevention and Safety,” aimed at raising the level of awareness and security culture and instilling preventive behavior among members of society throughout the academic year.

The campaign focuses, in its traffic aspect, on raising awareness among students and drivers about the importance of adhering to safety rules, using seat belts, crossing roads safely, and following traffic guidelines and instructions, thereby ensuring the safety of everyone.
