In Video: Ministry of Education and Ministry of Youth collaborate to discover, nurture, and develop students' talents

The Ministry of Education signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, the Kuwait School Sports Federation, and the Ministry of Higher Education, in the presence and under the patronage of Minister of Education Eng. Syed Jalal Al-Tabtabaee and Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma. The agreement was signed on behalf of the Ministry of Education by Deputy Minister Dr. Khaled Al-Rashid, on behalf of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports by Acting General Manager Bashar Abdullah, and on behalf of the Kuwait School Sports Federation and Higher Education by its President, Eng. Hamad Abdullah.

For his part, Minister of Education Eng. Syed Jalal Al-Tabtabaee clarified that the cooperation memorandum, signed yesterday morning Sunday at the Ministry of Education’s headquarters building, aims to nurture the talents of students, particularly those gifted in the sports field.

Speaking exclusively to “Al-Anbaa” on the sidelines of the signing, Al-Tabtabaee stated that the objective of this memorandum is to embrace sports talents within the Ministry of Education, in addition to exchanging sports facilities between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. He emphasized that the primary goal of signing this agreement is to focus on talented athletes within the Ministry of Education, whether they are students, teachers, or administrators.

Al-Tabtabaee affirmed that the agreement aligns with the Ministry’s commitment to providing a comprehensive educational environment that extends beyond academics to include sports, cultural, and social activities, thereby contributing to the development of students’ personalities and the enhancement of their abilities and talents. He added that cooperation with the Public Authority for Youth and Sports and the Kuwait School Sports Federation represents a significant step toward developing the school sports system, discovering students with sports talents, and refining their skills, thus providing them with greater opportunities to represent Kuwait at international sporting events. He noted that students always require care, attention, and open doors, and that this memorandum will serve as the framework for nurturing student talents within schools.

Regarding the implementation of the tracks system, Al-Tabtabaee said that previously, there were three tracks represented by the scientific, literary, and religious education sections. He pointed out that the tracks system allows students to diversify their choices for their future. He noted that eight specializations have currently been opened within the tracks system under legal frameworks and organized regulations, adding that these tracks did not appear overnight but resulted from a study lasting more than a year conducted by specialists who analyzed labor market needs and Kuwait’s requirements for these tracks. He explained that the track a student chooses in the 11th grade will accompany them beyond university, leading to the employment stage.

For his part, Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma stated that the cooperation memorandum has a duration of three years and includes many matters concerning youth and supporting the gifted. He affirmed the constant effort to provide a positive environment for our gifted sons and daughters, especially given the schools established by the Ministry of Education that undoubtedly support the youth and sports sectors.

Speaking to “Al-Anbaa,” Al-Jalahma said: “We always strive to provide the best talent scouts.” He noted that programs and projects are interconnected between our authority and the Ministry of Education, given the existence of the school federation, which will undoubtedly play a positive role in this agreement. He hoped that the agreement’s clauses would soon be translated into reality on the ground. He added: “We always strive to develop the sports aspect in parallel with the educational aspect for our student sons and daughters.”

Al-Jalahma emphasized that Kuwait is rich in competencies and talents in various fields, not just sports. He clarified that there is upcoming cooperation with the Ministry of Education through a project that will serve the gifted schools project recently announced by the Ministry of Education. This aims to support the gifted, provide them with spaces for creativity and innovation, and identify them early, thereby offering a highly supportive environment.

He expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation to Minister of Education Eng. Syed Jalal Al-Tabtabaee for his swift response and fruitful, constructive cooperation in the public interest, which strengthens the close relationship between the Ministry of Education and the Public Authority for Youth and Sports. He noted that the cooperation memorandum reflects the importance of integrating government efforts and sports and educational institutions in supporting Kuwaiti youth, adding that investing in students and youth represents an investment in Kuwait’s future.

Al-Jalahma stressed that the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Kuwait School Sports Federation, will work to support school sports programs and initiatives and provide a suitable environment for discovering talents and developing their capabilities. This will enhance the presence of sports in students’ lives and encourage them to adopt healthy and active lifestyles.

The signing of the memorandum comes within the framework of enhancing cooperation and coordination among entities concerned with education, youth, and sports, contributing to elevating school sports, expanding the base of participants in sports activities, and discovering and nurturing student talents and preparing them according to scientific and methodological foundations.
