Salmiya Police Station Removes 73 Abandoned Vehicles, a Boat, and a Caravan from the Streets
In a notable security move that broke from the traditional approach to handling daily reports, a team of officers and personnel from the Salima Police Station, under the supervision of the Director of Security for Hawalli Governorate and the Commander of the Salima District, successfully resolved the issue of dozens of abandoned vehicles, boats, and caravans that had been occupying roads, squares, and spaces between homes. The field campaign concluded with action taken in 73 cases.
Security sources told Al-Anbaa that the initiative began after station officers, during their routine duties and patrols in the area, noticed a growing number of abandoned vehicles among residential areas, on roads, and in squares, alongside boats and caravans left for extended periods. This prompted the formation of a dedicated team to monitor these cases rather than merely recording them.
The sources added that the team first conducted a field survey to catalog the cases, then carried out inquiries to identify the owners. Several owners were identified and contacted regarding their vehicles. For cases where owners could not be reached, the team coordinated with the Hawalli Governorate Municipality to complete the legal procedures required for removal.
The sources noted that the work did not end with submitting the data to the municipality. Officers from the Salima Police Station continued to monitor the cases on the ground until the removals were actually carried out, vehicle by vehicle, until a total of 73 vehicles, boats, and caravans were processed and removed.
The campaign reflected an approach based on identifying the problem and following through until it was resolved in practice, rather than simply referring paperwork to the relevant authority. This contributed to eliminating eyesores that had been occupying spaces on roads and squares near homes.
While the Director of Security for Hawalli Governorate and the Commander of the Salima District monitored the campaign, the station team handled the details, from identifying vehicle owners to coordinating with the municipality and ensuring that cases requiring removal were cleared.
Thus, the Salima Police Station closed the file on 73 abandoned cases through a field operation that began with observation and ended with removal, a step that underscores the security and service role of police stations in monitoring issues affecting traffic flow and the general appearance of the area, and in preventing neglected violations from accumulating without resolution.
