Artistic Building Allows Visitors to See the World Through a Bee's Eyes

On the banks of the River Thames in London, a strange artistic structure resembling a giant pollen grain appeared, designed to give visitors a sense of how insects perceive the world around them.

The work, titled Pollenarium, was created by British artist Luke Jerram and stands six meters tall, according to the Young Londoner website and British media. Inside, it features more than 100 lenses that operate on the principle of a pinhole camera, projecting images of the surrounding environment onto the walls of the dome as a repeating mosaic.

Entering the installation is akin to stepping inside a bee’s head, as the lenses artistically and simplistically mimic the vision produced by the compound eyes of insects.

The project’s objective extends beyond the visual experience; it also aims to draw attention to the declining populations of bees and other pollinating creatures, highlighting their vital role in plant life and food production.
