Foreign Minister and Expatriates Affairs Minister Asaad al-Shibani stated in a post on the X platform that, with the presence and support of more than forty countries from around the world, Syria clearly and responsibly voiced its rejection of the violation of its sovereignty and the entry of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu into its territory, reaffirming its commitment to national unity, independent decision-making, and territorial integrity.
Minister al-Shibani added: “We appreciate the swift international response supporting the Syrian Arab Republic in the face of ongoing Israeli violations, and we welcome this consensus, which confirms that respecting the independence of states and the integrity of their territories is a firmly established principle of the international system.”
He noted that Syria will continue its responsible approach, grounded in the provisions of international law and the UN Charter, and will persist in defending its national rights through all legitimate political and diplomatic means.
Minister al-Shibani emphasized that Syria’s security, stability, and territorial integrity are a shared interest for both Syrians and the international community. From this perspective, Syria will continue working to consolidate stability and strengthen respect for the rules of international law.
Yesterday, envoys from several UN member states, accompanied by Syrian Ambassador Ibrahim al-Alabi, held a vigil at the UN Security Council in New York to condemn Netanyahu’s illegal entry into Syrian territory and to reaffirm Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
Syria and several Arab and foreign countries had previously condemned in the strongest terms the illegal entry of the Israeli occupation prime minister into Syrian territory and his tour of the Golan Heights, stressing that this provocative step constitutes a blatant violation of Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international law.
