Mostafa Madbouly: We are working to identify imported production inputs in large quantities and are studying their local manufacturing

Cairo – Ahmed Sabri: Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouli visited the National Plastic Industries Company factory in the Baltim Industrial Zone, which specializes in producing agricultural film used in agricultural operations, as part of his extended visit to Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate yesterday.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the government pays special attention to industries producing production inputs, due to their multiplier effect on the economy. He clarified that localizing the production of these inputs not only supports the manufacturer but also positively impacts the cost and productivity of the sector that uses the product.

He added that the agricultural film industry is a clear example of this type of industry, given that its products are used in various agricultural activities. This makes increasing local production a factor contributing to reducing reliance on imports and improving the competitiveness of Egyptian farmers and producers.

He noted that the government is currently compiling a list of products and production inputs imported in large quantities, and studying available opportunities for their local manufacturing. He affirmed that any factory capable of expanding production in these products will receive state support, provided it adheres to quality standards and competitive pricing. He added that the goal is not merely to produce a local substitute, but a product capable of competing with imports in terms of quality and cost, because true industrial sustainability is achieved through competitiveness, not merely through protectionism.

For his part, Eng. Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry, affirmed that deepening local manufacturing of production inputs represents a key pillar in the ministry’s plan. He pointed out that efforts are underway to study the needs of various productive sectors and identify industrial opportunities that can be localized.
